Weekly Photo Challenge: Dreaming

When your vacation rains on you, appreciate what’s beautiful about that.

So what if it rained for nearly the entire week we were in the Finger Lakes?  It was beautiful regardless.  I got a lot of reading done.  I got a lot of writing done.  My boyfriend played a lot of guitar.  We hired a car and went on a wine tour  And I took the opportunities, when they presented themselves, to wander down onto our dock and enjoy just how lovely our surroundings were, whether seen in rain or shine.

We also got a ton of fog.  The liminal quality of fog (I’ve written about it before here) inherently imparts a dreamlike quality to its surroundings; when you remember your dreams are they ever in anything but soft focus?  Except for maybe dreams about vampires.  Those are always crystal clear.  Or is that just me?

Anyway.  Welcome to Dreamland.  What does this make you think of?

You can see the rest of the photo challenge here, and I’ve also included some of my favorites entries from this week.

Wow! Thank you! Not gonna lie; at first we had a bit of a disappointed feeling about the weather reports. But once we embraced our time anyway…good things happened. :) Thanks for stopping by.

I love the first photo. It is so calm and dreamy. Thanks so much for listing my blog :)

  2. Madelaine

Beautiful, mysterious, peaceful and artistic. Love all of them!
And thanks so much for the pingback!

  3. Yes, fog/mist automatically adds a dream-like feeling to any place.

Also, Thank you for the pingback. Glad you liked it! :)

  4. Beautiful. And now you have me lusting after a better camera – to capture the beach when it’s continuous curtain of pea soup green. It was the most amazing experience – there was no delineation between sky and water. At my feet the churning had produced a froth the color of the ivory sand, like a lacy fringe to the curtain. If only………………. sigh

    Thanks, Nikki

I petitioned for a better camera and got one last Christmas from my boyfriend. When we go places and I have it, I (inevitably) am the person who slows us up because I’m taking pictures. The first time he got a little antsy I said, “You know, I never said to you, don’t get me a camera, I can’t imagine when I’d use it.” I feel ya, sister.
